E3 2017: Nintendo Announces New Metroid Games

Nintendo blows away Metroid fans with not just one, but two new releases. Metroid Prime 4 coming to the Nintendo Switch and Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS.

Metroid Prime was known as one of the most popular gaming trilogies in the early to late 2000’s, originally released on the GameCube and Wii consoles, the last installment being Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which was released for the Wii in August 2007. Nearly ten years later Metroid Prime 4 has been announced and is currently undergoing development; however, it does not yet have a release date.

During the post-conference Nintendo went on to introduce Metroid: Samus Returns, which is based on a former classic Metroid II: Return of Samus, originally released back in 1991 for the Game Boy. The game will remain a 2D side-scrolling action/exploration game, but will gain enhanced graphics, improved range of motion, and awesome added abilities.

Metroid: Samus Returns will be availabile September 15th, 2017.

Games from the Metroid weren’t all that Nintendo announced, they also showed off Super Mario Odyssey, a new Pokemon RPG currently in development for Switch. Additionally, Rocket League will be coming to the Switch, and new DLC content for Zelda: Breath of the Wild will also be released.

CEO/b> If you look up the word “geek” in the dictionary, you won’t find a picture of Collin. The definition though is “an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity” which couldn’t describe him any more perfectly. Whether it’s music, movies, technology, or any other number of interests, Collin is a geek to the core. When he’s not spending time with his beautiful wife or son, Collin can often be found improving companies and their IT infrastructure at his day job. If he’s not there, find a computer or TV because you’re going to find him podcasting, researching new technology, playing video games, or watching either endless amounts of Chuck reruns or Star Wars.
