BIRDS OF PREY Teaser Trailer Leaks Online

Birds of Prey

It’s only 39 seconds long, but what we assume is the first trailer for Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) has leaked online. The first 10 seconds of the trailer shows the Warner Bros. and DC logos until the screen is filled with red balloons after which Robbie’s Harley Quinn pops one with her hammer and states, “I’m so f***ing over clowns.” This is likely referencing not only her relationship with Joker but also Pennywise from It: Chapter Two. The trailer then cuts into action shots, most of which feature Huntress and Black Canary.

One thing to note is that the Birds of Prey trailer is showing before It: Chapter Two. Warner Bros. indicated that it would not be available online meaning if you wanted to see it, you would have to go to the theaters this weekend. But since this is the Internet, everything eventually becomes available, even if it’s not supposed to be.

It makes sense that this is the theater-only trailer. Combine the red balloons with it being attached to It: Chapter Two, and it looks like DC and Warner Bros. attempted to do some clever cross-promotion.

Directed by Cathy Yang, Birds of Prey stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. She is joined by Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya. Ewan McGregor plays Black Mask, a former business executive, and mafia boss. The film will hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.

I know it’s a short trailer, but what are your thoughts? Are you looking forward to seeing Margot Robbie returning as Harley Quinn?
