About That JOKER Sequel…

With Joker having grossed more than a billion dollars, it’s easy to assume that Warner Bros. would want to follow up the hit film with a sequel. In fact, yesterday there were even reports that a sequel was in the works; however, those reports appear to be incorrect.
According to Deadline, the reports that DC and Warner Bros. have officially green-lit a Joker sequel are “flat false.” Contrary to what has been reported, there are no deals or any negotiations with either the film’s director Todd Phillips or his co-writer Scott Silver.
No one is saying a Joker sequel won’t happen someday. But multiple sources said nothing has happened yet and that Phillips and co-writer Scott Silver have made no real moves to draft the further dark rise of Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck character, or even to make a deal to do that.
Like I said, with Joker having brought in over a billion dollars, it’s safe to assume that a sequel will eventually come. Personally, I don’t know where they could go with one though. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what happens.
