Fox has been working on bringing another season to the small screen after the success of the series’ 6-episode revival last year. Their hard work has paid off because it was announced yesterday that The X-Files will return with 10 new episodes during the 2017-2018 broadcast season. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are both signed on to reprise their iconic roles and series creator and executive producer, Chris Carter, will also be returning.
“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators — these are the hallmarks of great TV shows,” FBC president David Madden said in a statement. “And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide. Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”
After the new season was announced, both Anderson and Duchovny shared some thoughts about the news via Twitter.
