Over the weekend at New York Comic Con, Fox unveiled the trailer for the upcoming eleventh season of The X-Files. But that’s not the only notable item regarding The X-Files to come out of NYCC.

The trailer comes out on the heels of news that this will most likely be Gillian Anderson’s swan song as Dana Scully. While talking with reporters at NYCC, Anderson was asked whether she had any interest in continuing beyond the upcoming season. “No, no,” she said, “I think this will be it for me.”

Anderson also said that she returned for season eleven, “Because it felt like it wasn’t over. It didn’t feel like we necessarily deliver everything the fans were expecting of us last time, and so it was that.”

Does Anderson’s departure mean that season eleven with be the last for The X-Files? What do you think? And what do you think of the trailer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Scheduled to be released in 2018, the 10-episode 11th season of The X-Files reunites creator Chris Carter with stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and Mitch Pileggi.
