Wilson Fisk, the Daredevil’s arch-nemesis, is returning to action in season three of Daredevil. Considering the story upon which the upcoming season is loosely based, this is an unsurprising move.

The news of Vincent D’Onofrio’s return for Daredevil’s third season was first revealed to Deadline earlier today. It was also revealed that Erik Oleson will be replacing Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez as showrunner.

Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox, has revealed that Frank Miller’s 1986 Born Again is providing loose inspiration for the series in the wake of Matt Murdock’s faux-death at the end of The Defenders. In that particular story, Kingpin learns Daredevil’s secret identity and attempts to destroy his life so it’s really not surprising to see Wilson Fisk returning to Hell’s Kitchen.

Season three of Daredevil is expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2018.
