Ian McShane has joined the reboot of Hellboy and will play Professor Broom, guardian of Hellboy, played by Stranger Things’ David Harbour. Broom is the character the late, great John Hurt played in the Guillermo del Toro Hellboy films. Neil Marshall (The Descent) is directing the film with the full title – Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. The story is said to revolve around Hellboy battling a sorceress. No word yet on the casting of the villain. Ian McShane’s previous work includes Mr. Wednesday on American Gods, Brother Ray on Game of Thrones, and Al Swearengen on Deadwood.

Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen is expected in theaters in 2018.
