Nintendo blows away Metroid fans with not just one, but two new releases. Metroid Prime 4 coming to the Nintendo Switch and Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS.

Metroid Prime was known as one of the most popular gaming trilogies in the early to late 2000’s, originally released on the GameCube and Wii consoles, the last installment being Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which was released for the Wii in August 2007. Nearly ten years later Metroid Prime 4 has been announced and is currently undergoing development; however, it does not yet have a release date.

During the post-conference Nintendo went on to introduce Metroid: Samus Returns, which is based on a former classic Metroid II: Return of Samus, originally released back in 1991 for the Game Boy. The game will remain a 2D side-scrolling action/exploration game, but will gain enhanced graphics, improved range of motion, and awesome added abilities.

Metroid: Samus Returns will be availabile September 15th, 2017.

Games from the Metroid weren’t all that Nintendo announced, they also showed off Super Mario Odyssey, a new Pokemon RPG currently in development for Switch. Additionally, Rocket League will be coming to the Switch, and new DLC content for Zelda: Breath of the Wild will also be released.
