Disney’s Live-Action Aladdin Gets a Trailer

If you’ve been wishing for a new trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin, then today is your lucky day! Earlier this morning on Good Morning America, Disney premiered the newest trailer for the Guy Ritchie-directed film.

The trailer features some of the classic action that fans of the original animated feature are familiar with. It also gives us get our first taste of the film’s music. Mena Massoud’s Aladdin and Naomi Scott’s Princess Jasmine give us a glimpse of “A Whole New World.” We also get teased by Will Smith’s Genie performing “A Friend Like Me” inside the Cave of Wonders.

A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, Aladdin is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.

In the past, I haven’t been too high on Disney taking their animated classics and giving them a live-action makeover. I think that Aladdin may be different though. Yeah, the first few impressions of Will Smith’s Genie weren’t very favorable, but this trailer may have changed my mind. While there is a lot that is familiar, it looks like there are some scenes that appear to be entirely new. This particular “remake” doesn’t feel like a complete retread. Of course, I still feel that Hollywood is out of ideas and this is just another example, but I digress…

In addition to Will Smith, Mensa Massoud, and Naomi Scott, Aladdin features Marwan Kenzari as Jafar and Navid Negahban as the Sultan.

The live-action remake of Disney’s Aladdin bursts into theaters on May 24. Check out the trailer and new poster and let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
