Companies Affected by the Epsilon Breach
As we mentioned on Podcast#2, there was a number of companies that was affected by the Epsilon email service provider breach. Basically these companies had collected email addresses for its business use. The breach resulted in these lists being stolen and possibly used to by spammers to send out their electronic junk mail.
You may have received an email from one of these companies letting you know about the breach. But just in case someone is wondering if they are getting hit by a phishing scam, we are posting the known list of companies that have sent out warning letters.
Remember, no company worth it’s salt will ask you for your information via email. These warning emails were just warnings only. No links to follow or requests for information. If an email asks you to follow a link to update your information, it would be better to use a google search to find the official company website and use that for your correspondence back to them.
