If you’re familiar with Marvel’s X-Men comics, then you know that mutants are generally treated somewhat poorly in the Marvel Universe. Actually, somewhat poorly is putting it pretty mildly. They’re treated like second-class citizens that should be used for testing and then exterminated.

Fox has given us a sneak peek at the first six minutes of the pilot episode which highlights popular mutants Blink, Polaris, and Thunderbird. We also get to see the newly-created mutant, Eclipse, in action. It looks like these guys are having a bit of a rough night, and if the show stays true to the comics, I have a feeling that things aren’t going to get any better.

Action-adventure family drama THE GIFTED, from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

The Gifted stars Amy Acker, Stephen Moyer, Blair Redford, and Emma Dumont and is directed by Bryan Singer. It premieres on October 2nd on Fox.

What are your thoughts? I’ve already got my TiVO set to record the series. Will you be watching too?
