It amazes me how far we have come in the additive manufacturing arena. 3D printers are now much more reachable and affordable. The question we are asking ourselves now is what printer should I buy.
My hope is to help you decide by giving you a little bit of information on the under $500 printers that are out there.
The first printer I want to review is the Alunar M508 kits. This little printer is based PRUSA I3 open source platform.
Price : $186-$280 (kit) or $400-600(assembled)
Honestly, I prefer the kits to the fully assembled ready to go version. Why? Because I want to know how it works and how to fix it if and when problems arise. Because of this, in my mind, the best way to do it is to build it myself.
- Easy to use
- Easy to assemble
- Easy to repair
- Cable management
- Tricky to level the bed
- Filament positioning
This kit is awesome! And it comes very well organized with all the tools that you will need. If you’re in the market for a 3D printer, the Alunar M508 is definitely an option that you should be seriously considering.
